Scarecrow Harvest

Local Classrooms and Community Invited to Show Fall Spirit & Creativity at 5th Annual Scarecrow Harvest

The City of Alpharetta invites teachers and students from local elementary schools to celebrate the spirit of the fall season by creating a scarecrow for the 4th Annual Scarecrow Harvest. A colorful hit with the community, the scarecrows from schools will be on display on Main Street (SR 9) in Historic Downtown Alpharetta beginning October. Residents and businesses throughout Alpharetta are encouraged to join in the fun by displaying their own scarecrows as well.

Scarecrow Harvest on Sat, Oct 2nd from 10 am to 2 pm is a time to gather and celebrate the scarecrow creations. The public is invited to attend this FREE event, which will offer hayrides, children’s fall crafts, live folk music with High Cotton, storytelling, face painting and of course the announcement of the winning scarecrows.

The event will take place along with the Alpharetta Farmer’s Market on Old Roswell Street in Historic Downtown Alpharetta. Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association hosts the Alpharetta Farmer’s Market each Saturday from May through October.

Awards will be given to classrooms for Most Creative, Best Constructed, Best Personality and SchCOOLEST (school with the most participating classrooms) Scarecrows.

Barbecue sandwiches, hot dog and more from Smokejack, A Southern Grill, and fall treats such as caramel apples will be offered. FREE parking is offered at City Hall and Milton Center (old Milton High School).

Congratulations to all of the principals, teachers, parents and students involved in the 4th Annual Scarecrow Harvest!  Mayor Arthur Letchas will give signed thank-you certificates for all 85 participating classrooms.  Thank you for making this a wonderful community event!
