Our Mission:
The Municipal Court hears and adjudicates cases involving possible violations of City Ordinances and certain state laws. The Municipal Judge shall maintain law and order in the City to resolve disputes and to comply with the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution and laws of the State of Georgia, and the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Alpharetta.
Handles City ordinances, Traffic, and some Misdemeanors cases;
Management of all Court records;
Handles all payments before and during court;
Maintains communication through all departments;
Keeps up-to-date with all current, changed, and new laws that effect this Court;
Communicates and handles all of the public, attorneys, solicitors, judges, city and state agencies questions, concerns, and phone calls;
Manages a court management computer system including computer input for all City Ordinances, traffic and some misdemeanor cases;
Monitors and handles all cash bonds;
Reports all convictions to the proper state agencies;
Prepares monthly state reports required by law; and
Prepares all case file folders.
The Violations Bureau makes sure that all defendants, witnesses, victims, police officers, attorneys, solicitors, interpreters, court reporters, and detention officers are in court when needed. The Violations Bureau also manages the court calendar during the fiscal year and sets all appointments for the Judge and Solicitor.
