Severe Weather Forecast

Severe Weather Possible Friday – Begin Making Preparations

Released September 24, 2024 11:30 AM
Current forecasts for our area include the possibility of strong winds and heavy rains on Friday as the remnants of what is expected to be Hurricane Helene passes through Georgia.  Rain is expected to move in by Wednesday ahead of the main storm, which is anticipated to be in our area early on Friday.

Now is a good time to make some early preparations such as securing or moving indoors any outdoor items that could be picked up by high winds, clearing debris from storm drains, checking flashlight batteries, and making certain that you have a way to get severe weather warnings and information even during power outages.  We recommend having a NOAA all hazards radio in your home and turning on emergency alerts on your smartphone so you receive warnings even when in “do not disturb” mode (visit https://www.weather.gov/wrn/wea to learn more).

Please monitor local weather reports and storm tracks for the remainder of the week for the latest storm tracks and updates.
