Residents and motorists are advised to expect a lot of bicyclists on North Fulton’s roads this Saturday, June 25, as the GA400 Century City Tour rolls through. This annual event is expected to draw more than 500 cyclists and will bring them through Alpharetta, Cumming, Milton, Mountain Park, and Roswell.
The event is a “rules of the road” ride, which means that participating cyclists can ride two abreast in the road and must obey all traffic signals, stop signs, and other traffic control devices. Motorists, per Georgia law, when passing cyclists must change lanes into one not adjacent to a cyclist when possible. When it is not possible for the motorist to change lanes, he or she must reduce speed to 10 mph below the posted speed limit or 25 mph, whichever is more, and maintain at least 3 feet between the motor vehicle and bicycle(s) at all times.
In Alpharetta, the impacts to our streets will primarily occur between 7:30 and 10:00 AM with large numbers of cyclists on the following roads:
* Academy Street
* Bethany Road
* Georgia Lane
* Haynes Bridge Road
* Kimball Bridge Road
* Mayfield Road
* Mid Broadwell Road
* Milton Avenue
* Morris Road
* North Point Parkway
* Park Plaza
* Thompson Street
* Webb Bridge Road
* Westside Parkway
