Classes begin for Fulton County Schools on Monday, August 8. That means more cars on the road and a lot more activity in and around the many school zones in Alpharetta. It also means that drivers need to slow down when traveling through those school zones in the mornings and afternoons.
As a reminder, the City of Alpharetta does utilize cameras to enforce speed limits in school zones and improve safety for students. Cameras are currently in place and will be enforcing speed limits around six schools.

Violations are issued in accordance with Georgia Code O.C.G.A. § 40-14-18, which allows for the use of automated speed detection devices in school zones from one hour prior to the start of the school day, until one hour after the end of the school day. This includes "the time in which instructional classes are taking place." The posted times regulate the strictness of the enforcement, as that is when children are actively coming and going from the school.
So, please pay attention to those school speed zones.
