If your glass recyclables bin is full, empty, or anywhere in between, all Alpharetta homeowners are asked to place their bins at curbside on their normal service day during the week of August 8 – 12. This is the final week for the City’s curbside glass recycling program, and Republic Services will be collecting the bins to end the program.
The bin collection will be accomplished in two stages. First, any glass recyclables in the bins will be collected by a Republic Service recycling crew. Second, a separate crew and vehicle will come through to pickup the actual bins. It is important to note that the two tasks will not be performed simultaneously, and some time may pass between the performance of step one and step two.
Residents should have their glass bins, regardless of if they are full or empty, at curbside by no later than 7:00 AM on their normally scheduled trash and recycling service day.
Beginning the week of August 15, glass will no longer be accepted in Alpharetta’s curbside recycling program. As such, until further notice, homeowners should place glass items in their regular trash.
Placing glass in with other recyclables will result in items that could otherwise be recycled being routed to the landfill.
The City continues to work to develop an alternative to throwing glass in the trash and will notify residents as soon as that alternative is established. Until then, those residents who wish to continue recycling glass may take glass recyclables to the Keep North Fulton Beautiful recycling center located at 470 Morgan Falls Road in Sandy Springs.
