Turn Off Irrigation Systems

Released December 06, 2024 03:16 PM
This morning, the City received numerous calls from motorists and pedestrians reporting patches of ice on roads and sidewalks. These patches of ice were caused by landscape irrigation systems that had not been turned off. This creates a safety hazard that could result in injury or damage to property.

If an accident or injury occurs due to ice caused by a sprinkler system, the owner of that system will have liability for any injuries or damages that may result. The owner of an irrigation system may also be charged for any costs incurred by the City to treat roads on which ice forms due to overspray.
