In January of each year, volunteers and public officials spread out in teams across Alpharetta and the rest of Fulton County to conduct the federally mandated Homeless Point In Time Count. The effort, spearheaded by Fulton County and the Fulton County Continuum of Care, attempts to secure a count of the community’s homeless population and gain important insights that are used to develop strategies for reducing homelessness and to provide essential services for those living through homelessness.
This year, the Point in Time Count (PIT) will be conducted January 23 - 27, and volunteers are currently being sought to assist with the effort. Volunteers must register by December 20, will be trained prior to going into the field, and each team will be accompanied by a public safety officer and a professional staff member while conducting the count.
