Alpharetta residents and businesses, especially those located along Windward Parkway and on State Route 9 north of Mayfield Road are encouraged to participate in a meeting on Wednesday, May 24 focused on creating a future vision for the area. The event begins at 5:30 PM and will be held at the offices of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, located at 10000 Avalon Boulevard, Suite 100, in Alpharetta.
The community meeting is part of a process to create a new strategic master plan for the Windward/Highway 9 Corridor that will identify potential investments in mobility, transportation, green space, and placemaking to improve quality of life and economic competitiveness. Building on the 2012 Strategic Master Plan for the Windward Parkway/Highway 9 area, this effort will consider the significant changes that have occurred within the last 10 years, both locally and nationally and will result in:
• An updated approach to land use and transportation
• Strategies for integrating a planned high-capacity transit station
• Strategies for economic development
• A branding strategy for the area
In addition to community meetings such as the May 24 event, members of the public will have opportunities to lend their vision and voice to this effort via a variety of online tools that will be introduced in the coming weeks.
