The City of Alpharetta has instituted an Authorized Tree Removal Contractor Program. This program allows tree removal contractors that have attended a training class offered by the City Arborist to expedite certain tree removal projects. If the tree removal project complies with the items listed below the Authorized Tree Removal Contractor can remove the trees prior to obtaining an approved tree removal permit from the City of Alpharetta. Each contractor that attends this class is given a certificate as well as a unique Authorization Number and are listed below.

Guidelines

The Authorized Tree Removal Contractor must be in good standing with the City of Alpharetta.

A complete permit application has been submitted to the City through the online portal.

The property must be a single family residential detached property. It cannot be multi-family or commercial.

No specimen size trees are proposed for removal.

No trees within stream or lake buffers are proposed for removal.

No trees within a zoning buffer or tree save area are proposed for removal.

If the removal triggers a required tree planting per code, the application must include a replanting plan signed by the property owner. Plans will be reviewed by the City Arborist for compliance as soon as practical.

This does not exempt the contractor or the property owner from any HOA requirements. This is only a City of Alpharetta expedited approval.

The application must be initiated by the individual contractor who attended the class and is on the list below.

Authorized Tree Removal Contractors

The City of Alpharetta recommends verifying that any contractor you may hire, including those listed below, have the proper licenses and insurance to perform the work you desire. For tree removal contractors we recommend they have, at a minimum, General Liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance with financial limits to cover property damage and/or injuries that may arise from the work being performed.
