A Right of Way Encroachment Permit Application must be submitted to the City of Alpharetta and approved prior to any excavation within City right-of-way.
Prior to submitting for a Right of Way Encroachment permit, please make sure to have the following REQUIRED information in front of you.
- Name of utility owner
- Name of site contractor
- Name and phone number of 24-hour contact
- Description of project
- Project address
- Project start date and project completion date (permit issued for 90 days)
- Complete plans/drawings/photos of proposed work to upload for review.
- Submissions to include photos with timestamp of entire work area and uploaded to Portal for review . No other submissions will be accepted.
- Please contact Engineering Technician at 678-297-6240 or utilitypermits@alpharetta.ga.us for video files as these are not currently supported to upload to the Portal.

If advance flagging or staking of pit locations will be performed as a tree protection measure, please contact the Public Works Engineering Technician prior to any ground work. Staked locations must be inspected by City personnel. Failure to comply shall result in a stop work order.
