Loss of electric power is not uncommon during winter weather events. Ice forming on overhead powerlines, falling branches and trees, and other factors often lead to downed powerlines and widespread outages.
If you encounter a downed power line, stay away from it and call 911 immediately.
When your power or a streetlight goes out, no matter the type of weather or reason, you should contact your electric provider to report the outage. The City of Alpharetta cannot assist with the restoration of electric service, and during winter weather events or other incidents calling us only draws our personnel away from performing other necessary tasks. Please call the appropriate electric utility provider to report downed power lines. For electric service outages, reporting the outage online is usually quicker and easier.
